Whether Lexington drivers select the C-Max as a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, they enjoy the fuel efficiency and comfort of this vehicle from Glenn Ford. The C-Max not only offers the expected gas mileage of a hybrid, but also manages to retain the joy that comes with driving.
The C-Max runs on a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine working with an electric motor that gets its power from a lithium-ion battery pack. Alone, the gas engine generates 141 horsepower and 129 pound-feet torque, but when working with the electric motor, the horsepower increases to 188 horses. In terms of fuel economy, expect 40 mpg combined, broken up to 42 mpg city and 37 highway. Keep in mind, however, that the C-Max can get up to 60 mph in just 8.1 seconds, making it 2 seconds faster than some other hybrids.
Comfort and Convenience
There are only two trim choices for the C-Max, but drivers will not notice any lack of features. All models come with keyless entry, integrated blind-spot mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and cruise control. Entertainment comes with Sync voice commands, smartphone apps (such as Pandora Internet radio), Bluetooth for audio and phone, six speakers, a CD player, an iPod/USB interface, and an auxiliary audio jack. To make life easier, various options are bundled together, offering a step between the trim levels. Some features available as upgrades or with the higher trim include navigation, a power liftgate, MyFord Touch, heated mirrors, keyless ignition, leather upholstery, heated front seats with eight-way power and two-way lumbar adjustment for the driver, and a rearview mirror that dims automatically.
